Job Title: General Manager – Birr Golf Club

Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic General Manager to lead the overall operations of our golf club. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the efficient day-to-day management of the club, actively promoting the game of golf, ensuring exceptional member and visitor experiences, and overseeing all administrative functions. This is a leadership role that requires strategic vision, operational excellence, and a passion for the game.
Key Responsibilities
Club Operations & Leadership
• Oversee all aspects of golf club operations including golf course maintenance, clubhouse facilities, food and beverage, retail, and member services.
• Lead and motivate a team of experienced individuals to deliver exceptional service standards.
• Maintain the club’s physical assets and manage capital improvement projects.
• Implement and monitor safety, cleanliness, and presentation standards across all areas of the club.
Promoting Golf & Member Engagement
• Act as an ambassador for the club, fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment.
• Develop and support programs, events, and tournaments that promote the game of golf and encourage participation among members and the local community.
• Collaborate with the Captains, competitions secretaries and Golf Course Head Green Keeper to ensure top-tier course conditions and golf programming.
• Drive member engagement through newsletters, social media, and other communication channels.
Administrative & Financial Management
• Prepare and manage the club’s annual budget, monitor financial performance, and ensure cost controls.
• Develop and enforce policies, procedures, and standards in line with industry best practices and club bylaws.
• Oversee membership administration, including onboarding, retention strategies, and resolving member concerns.
• Coordinate with the Chairperson and Management Committee to set long-term strategic goals and report on key performance indicators.
Qualifications:
• Proven experience in golf club or hospitality management (minimum 5 years preferred).
• Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
• In-depth understanding of golf operations, course maintenance, and club governance.
• Financial acumen with experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
• Proficient in club management software and standard office applications.
• A passion for the game of golf and the golf club lifestyle.
Preferred:
• Bachelor's degree in Business, Hospitality, Sports Management, or related field.
• PGA or CMAA affiliation/certification a plus.
