Offaly championship final
The final of the Offaly Club final will take place on Friday with an 11 pm shotgun start. Tea and scones will be served at 10.30. Birr who were pipped by one point last year are with their manager Michael Ashe determined to make amends this year and keep the trophy presented by Willie and Sean Loughnane in the Club cabinet. The team is: Pat Maher/ Bernard Wilkes, John Dwyer/Fergal Boland, Declan Gath/Liam Delaney. Michael Lyons/John Gilmartin and Tony McTague/Michael Ashe.

Ladies’ golf
Ladies Open Day. Sunday, 2nd October the last Open Day for the season with Siobhán Tynan, Sportsman Dream sponsoring the day was held. It was a huge success with over eighty ladies taking to the fairways.
We had a big number of visitors to play the Open Day and this support is much appreciated. Congratulations to all the prizewinners and it was lovely to see the visitors featuring – well done to all and also a huge thank you to Siobhán for lovely display of outdoor wear for the chilly days ahead! The results are as follows:

Hampers and Turkey Competitions. The Hamper and Turkey Competitions have commenced and are ongoing. Draws at the usual times on Wednesdays and arrange outside of this. The first Hamper is 16 Holes and is very generously sponsored by Greg Hanlon, Hanlons Butchers, Castle Street.
Final Day of the President’s Mixed Scramble. The President’s Tony and Gemma organised a Grand Finale of the President’s Mixed on last Saturday, 1st October and a big turnout of members attended what was a fitting tribute to our Presidents for organizing the mixed sociable scramble since last May. On behalf of all the members a sincere ‘go raibh maith agat’ for giving the time and effort to organizing the Monday evenings.
18 Hole Stableford Results. The results of the recent 18 hole competition kindly sponsored by one of our new sponsors - Smith and O’Mahony Opticians Birr are as follows:

The Glenns Trophy. All roads lead to Birr Golf Club on next Wednesday, 5th October for the annual Glenns Trophy Competition. This is a great day every year with an over demand for the timesheet. We are most grateful to our generous sponsor Peter Fox Pharmacy again this year who has sponsored this competition since it commenced. We wish the representing Birr ladies – Lady Captain Rita, Elizabeth Pardy, Mary Byrne and Therese Feeley the best of luck on the day. Presentation of prizes will be at 6.30 p.m.
