Captains' Drive-In

Sunday 18th February saw the golfing season start with the Captain's Drive In. Lady Captain Mary Bolger and Captain Paschal Troy arrived by vintage horse drawn carriage and dressed in vintage golf costumes as part of the 125 year anniversary of the club this year.

They were greeted by family members and golfing friends and Francie Horan popped the cork on the champagne for them.

Following this there were some loads of timber auctioned and some good bargains were had by the bidders !

Then captains Mary and Paschal along with Presidents Bernadette McTague and Joe Slevin drove off.

This was followed by a 4 person scramble where almost 70 golfers took part which was fantastic considering the inclement weather conditions. As we waited for the results and presentation of prizes, the golfers were very glad to have some lovely hot finger food. The results were as follows:

1st Cormac Moylan Pat Molloy Eileen Delaney Kathleen Doorley 39.6

2nd Sean Moylan Theresa Fealy vice captains Albert Kelly and Caroline McCarthy 42.8

3rd Aidan Farrelly Alan Hennessy Liam Guilfoyle Mary Sullivan 42.9

A load of timber was raffled and the lucky winner was Liam Guilfoyle.

Many thanks to all who supported the captains and presidents and we wish them a very enjoyable and successful year.

The ladies and gents winter leagues continue. Please make an extra effort to get your rounds played so as to keep the final dates on track.

The winner this week was Sandra Moylan with number 4.

Francie is getting ready for the Masters and will be taking entries in the bar. This is always very interesting event and raises much needed funds for the club. Please support and join in the fun !
