Captain’s Prize

Captain Sean Moylan’s coveted prize was completed on Sunday under pretty difficult conditions. The heavy rains did not deter Clareen man Liam Coughlan from collecting the year’s number one prize. At the presentation President Tom Rigney gave a very entertaining speech outlining Sean’s interesting career. Tom said that he had been in school with Sean and followed his very successful hurling days with St. Rynagh’s and Offaly. He proved just as successful at golf and has contributed hugely to the progress of our Club. Tom also thanked John Ryan Construction for very generous sponsorship and all the other sponsors who are supporting our Club.

Sean in reply thanked Tom and all who played in  his prize. He said it was a privilege and an honour to have been Captain. He noted all the work done by the Men’s Committee, the Ladies’ Committee, Francie and Joan and saw at first hand the great work done by the course staff and volunteer workers. He congratulated Liam Coughlan on winning  his prize and all the others who were in the winners’ enclosure.  He was very grateful to John Ryan Construction for his sponsorship and wished his company every success.

He was delighted to welcome Sandra and his family and hoped that all would stay on to dance the night away to the music of Richie Burke and Pat Conlon.

At the presentation Liam said how happy he was to win. He thanked  Sean for his beautiful prize and stressed  how glad he was as Clareen hurler  to accept a prize from a Rynagh’s player. He thanked his  playing partners and all who made the day so enjoyable.
