President’s Prize

Our President John Fleury held his prize day on Saturday and Sunday last. A large turnout of members played over the weekend to honour our President. At the Presentation on Sunday night Captain Brendan Carroll thanked all who played and those who  helped to organise the event. He reminded all that John  a very staunch member of  The Glenns  has done much to promote the Club and keep it to the forefront throughout the Midlands

President John in reply stated that he was very happy to promote the Club in any way possible. He thanked all who played and was glad to note that Pat Madden a dedicated member of the Club had won his prize.

He thanked all who played and especially the course staff who had the course in splendid order. It was obvious that many peoples had worked hard to make the day such a success.

He was glad to see that the Club this night was remembering the team that won the Provincial Towns’ Challenge Cup 25 years previously in 1991. Commemorative presentations will be made to the members of the team or their representatives.

Anniversary of 1991 Win.

Arthur Joyce who was Captain when our Club won the prestigious Provincial Towns’ Cup in 1991,thanked the Management for organising a commemorative presentation in honour of the occasion.  Birr had a comfortable win at home against Rosslare who were unable to make up the slack in the away match.  Victory was very sweet.

The late John Gilmartin was President of  the  Club  and Michael Yates was Manager.

Arthur named the team and subs and was glad  that so many were present for the presentations. He welcomed the family members of the deceased players. The players in 1991 were: Tony Nevin RIP. Conor Murphy, Tony Carville RIP. Francie Horan, John Fleury, Eddie Nevin, Paddy Hogan, RIP, Michael Grogan, Pat Madden, Con Kennedy RIP , Michael Lyons and Tony McTague.
