SYMPATHY
it was with deep regret we learned of the death of John Gilmartin who was a member of Birr GC for over 70 years. John won his first prize in 1945. On the death of Bertie Dowd in 1962 John was elected Captain and remained Captain for 1963 and was president in 1991. Later he founded the seniors golf society and for him it was the highlight of his golfing career, every Thursday for the last 10 years, organising prize days at home and away. As a mark of respect a minutes silence was observed at the seniors outing last Thursday. Sincere sympathy is extended to his wife Roma, and family.
