Annual General Meeting

The 2011 Annual General Meting of the Club was held on Sunday afternoon when the members were given a detailed account of the affairs and the running of the club during the past year. Outgoing Chairperson Joe Slevin welcomed all and especially incoming Captains Seamas Breen and Vera Smyth with Presidents Sean Moylan and Mary Grennan, The new Vice-Captains are John Irwin and Susan Reidy. Joe thanked in particular all the members who had supported events and competitions throughout the year. He praised in particular the course staff who despite severe weather conditions did a marvellous job. He praised the work done by the bar, office and house staff for their dedicated and efficient work.

Hon. Treas. David McDowell gave a thorough and detailed account of the finances of the Club. Despite all the economic difficulties we have managed to keep our budget under control. Cutbacks have been made in every area and he was glad to record that our members have a good grasp of affairs and are not placing unreasonable demands on the Club. There has been demand for the introduction of distance membership recently. He proposed that we introduce a Distance Membership for men and women who live over 80 km from the club. A Distance Member shall not be eligible to win the Captains’ or Presidents’ prizes  and shall not be entitled to attend or vote at any meeting convened within the club rules,  The motion was carried.

A motion dealing with subscriptions for 2012 was also carried. There were a couple of minor changes to the 2011 Subscriptions.

The Chair thanked David for his professional work and praised him for the many hours spent dealing with the finances.

There followed a lengthy question and answer session where members contributed many useful suggestions towards the running of the Club.

The Management  Committee for 2012 consists of the ex-officio members plus Joe Slevin, Ann Frawley Liam O’Brien, Ann McIntyre, Bernadette McTague, Michael Coughlan.
