AGM

This is the AGM season with the Men’s on Thurs. 17^th at 8 pm.  The Ladies AGM will take place on the 18^th also at 8 pm and the combined Club AGM on Sun 27^th at 4 pm.

The Drive Out for outgoing captains Joe Slevin and Rita Delaney will take place on Sun. 13^th at 12 noon.  On the 17^th and 18^th Nov. we welcome incoming Captains Seamas Breen and Vera Smyth and wish them both best of luck during 2012.

Sports Star of the Year

Congratulations to Billy Donlon on being selected as Birr Golf Club’s Sports Star of the Year at the awards night in the County Arms Hotel. As this event was organised by the Birr Chamber of Commerce, all involved deserve the height of praise for the efficiency with  which it was planned and run.  The large attendance had a most enjoyable evening.

Hole in one

Congratulations to George Manzor on achieving a hole-in-one on the very exacting  Los Colinas Bay  Golf Club near Alicante  in Spain.  George used a 5 iron at the water surrounded difficult 5^th hole with a strong south westerly making conditions extremely taxing. George who is a member in both Birr and Dooks was very pleased with this his first hole- in- one.

Ladies’ golf

Captain’s Drive Out. Next Sunday, November 13^th the Captain’s and President’s Drive Out will take place. It is planned to have a 4 Ball Scramble with a shotgun start at 12.30 p.m. Entries from 12.00 noon. This event is replacing the annual Captain’s Dinner and Captains Joe and Rita have come up with this new venture to get more members play a fun scramble and enjoy reception and refreshments after golf. Please come out in numbers on Sunday to honour the Captains and Presidents in what has been a great year for them. Don’t miss out on this fun day.
